Our Services
The Buckner Legal Self-Help Program is a service offered by Michael Buckner, Esquire. The Program provides a la carte, limited-scope and self-help legal services remotely to Florida residents who cannot afford a lawyer, but need guidance on how to navigate the legal system in several areas of the law, including:
Wage and salary issues and disputes
Discrimination
Family law
ERISA/COBRA
Landlord-tenant
Debt collection (credit-cards and vehicles)
Estate planning (will, trust, health-care directive, power-of-attorney)
General litigation
Sports eligibility and investigations
Investigations
Immigration.

Specific A La Carte, Limited-Scope and Self-Help Services Offered
Prepare and send attorney pre-suit notice and demand letters
Prepare attorney opinion letters
Provide ongoing legal advice
Prepare court documents, including: complaints; petitions; answers to complaints; motions; legal briefs; discovery documents (e.g. interrogatories, requests for production of documents, requests for admissions, witness lists, exhibit lists, subpoenas); mediation statements; trial briefs; appellate briefs
Conduct or defend depositions
Negotiate with opposing counsel
Serve documents on the opposing party
Review legal documents from opposing party
Assist with prepare for hearings and trials.
Step One: You Have a Legal Issue/Question
If you are served with a lawsuit, need to sue someone or have a legal question, you contact Michael by completing an inquiry form.
Step Two: Scheduling a Consultation
Michael will return your inquiry within 12-24 hours—you will then be asked to: submit any relevant documents; provide dates and times for a 30-minute consultation; and pay (via CashApp, Venmo, Zelle or PayPal) a flat fee (which covers the time for the attorney to review your case and the 30-minute consultation).
Step Three: The Consultation
During your 30-minute Zoom or telephone consultation, Michael will give: an initial assessment of your case; an overview of the steps in the court process; pointers on how to conduct legal research; tips on participating in Zoom, telephone and in-person hearings; and answer any of your questions. If you need additional consultation time or assistance on other aspects of your case, Michael is available on an hourly or flat fee basis.
