COVID-19 has forced all of us to change our lives. In fact, the pandemic has created financial and other difficulties for many Americans.

Unfortunately, such challenges will soon transform into legal hurdles as landlords, debt collectors and other parties use the court system to secure judgments and money awards against everyday Americans.

Although these parties will be well-represented by experienced lawyers and large law firms, those that are sued often are unable to afford the assistance of legal counsel. Instead, they will proceed as pro se litigants, which is a fancy legal term that means persons who choose to represent him or herself in court without a lawyer.

The Buckner Legal Self-Help Program provides assistance remotely to Florida residents who cannot afford a lawyer, but need guidance on how to navigate the legal system.
