Initial Consultation Agreement
Please Read Carefully and Sign Below:
The Buckner Legal Self-Help Program will provide you with a 30-minute initial consultation. The purpose of an initial consultation is for us to provide you with: an initial assessment of your case; an overview of the steps in the court process; pointers on how to conduct legal research; tips on participating in Zoom, telephone or in-person hearings; and answer any of your questions.
This agreement and your payment pertain only to our delivery of the initial consultation to you. Unless you retain us to provide additional services, our engagement will conclude at the end of the initial consultation.
Following your initial consultation, if you agree to retain us, and we agree to represent you, you will sign an engagement letter, which shall control the timing and terms of payments for Buckner’s services. Please note that Buckner charges an hourly or flat rate for the services of our attorneys and consultants. Further, you may be required to provide a retainer payment prior to commencement of additional services.
If we do not agree to represent you and your initial consultation involves a potential lawsuit or case, it is important that you realize a lawsuit or case must be filed within a certain period of time under laws called, in most jurisdictions, a Statute of Limitations. Therefore, we strongly urges you to immediately consult with another attorney to protect your rights. Our decision not to represent you should not be taken by you as an indication of the merits of your case.
You are required to complete three items before we can provide you a consultation.
First, submit to us all of the documents that are relevant to your legal case or question, including any complaints, motions, briefs and contracts. Documents should be submitted to us as attachments to an email sent to the following address: michaelbucknerlaw@gmail.com.
Second, you will need to pay the consultation fee of $250.00. The consultation cannot begin until we receive the flat fee in full. Payment can be made through the following apps:
